Well~
We have a choice to do the things we don’t want to but need to. We can keep our bodies moving and strong by modifying our routines as we age, or we can just stop moving and give up on our fitness altogether. The choice is ours. I have personally witnessed both outcomes.
Those who consistently engage in some sort of physical activity, regardless of their age, tend to stay strong and healthy. I’ve seen young and elder individuals alike who maintain their fitness routines and continue to thrive with vitality. However, after a year of letting go and becoming sedentary, the difference is stark. When I see them again, they have physically declined, experiencing more aches, pains, and various health issues.
You see, the choice is truly ours. We hold the power to decide our physical health and well-being. The physical routines we start now and MODIFY as we age unlock the secret to staying youthful and energetic. It’s not about maintaining the same level of intensity but adapting our activities to fit our bodies’ changing needs. Whether it’s switching from high-impact exercises to gentler movements or incorporating more stretching and flexibility work, these modifications can make all the difference. Don’t underestimate the power of walking, light stretches, and hand held light dumbells.
What’s important is to never stop moving. Our bodies are designed to be active, and movement helps promote circulation, flexibility, and overall health. By making a commitment to stay active and adapt our routines as necessary, we can enjoy a higher quality of life, filled with less pain and more joy.
So, take a some time to reflect on what fits you and then make a promise~ to keep moving, to keep modifying, and to keep improving. No matter our age, there’s always room for growth and progress.
As for myself, I plan on moving and modifying until my body gives me the finger and FORCES me to stay still.
For now….Life is too short, and there’s too much to venture off to experience.
