Do not waste time thinking about what you could have done differently in life. As long as you learned the lessons you were meant to learn, enjoyed the journey and walked in your authenticity. Why do I say this?! Because if it wasn’t for that journey, you would not be the person you are today. These moments helped you to evolve and transform. What we often forget, is to have fun and laugh along the way-to everything there is a silver-lining.
When my cousin sent these pictures to me, I chuckled and immediately was taken back to those very moments in our youth. As teens we had so many great times just creating whatever came to mind. A time when we were carefree and paid no attention to what society expected of us. All we cared about was just being ourselves. Do you remember a time when you took life less seriously than you do now?
By the looks of my pictures on a recent night out with my friend Cherie….Not much has changed. We went thrift shopping just to see what treasures we would find. In the process, we decided to try on some skirts. We both decided why the heck not, so we put them on over our leggings, Ha! Yep we took it back to an era when we were carefree….80’s for life! Denim mini’s = Electric Youth😆~So Nostalgic. Who needs a dressing room🤷🏽♀️ We laughed so hard as we tried on a multitude of tops, bottoms and dresses, so hard we were in tears. Society has us believing that once we hit “adulthood” that we need to carry ourselves a certain way. Isn’t it better to to carry yourself as yourself and truly just be YOU?!
Yes some things in life, we have to be serious with. BUT there are so many times not just in life BUT in the present~Where we just need to let loose, have fun, enjoy the barrels of laughs while creating some amazing memories along the way. We strive to teach and guide our children to do exactly that, yet we hold ourselves back. Shouldn’t we be leading them from the front, by setting the example?
As a nurse I have sat bedside with many in there final days. I can assure you EVERY TIME, their advice was to do the things that lights you up inside but fear to do. In the end it’s the moments of living freely and unapologetically they regretted the most. So if traveling tugs at your heart; save up, make time and go out there and do it. If it’s going back to school in your 50’s, 60’s or 70’s, guess what? Do it! I’ve crossed paths with so many people that after retirement decided to chase after an old dream they had. Some have even said- as they walked through each stage in life, each stage brought new hope and new desires to attain.
What I am saying is- it is truly never too late to live and create the life you want. You want to finish the degree you started? You want to write a book? You want to play an instrument? You want to sing? Well…..DO….IT!!! Just don’t STOP LIVING!
